Biographical Info
Charlene has been playing violin for 20 years, starting with the Suzuki Method in Columbus, OH and moving on to private lessons with Dr. Thomas Wood at the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio. For the past 15 years, she has been intensely studying Irish music and has toured the US multiple times with groups such as Glen Road, Oisre and the John Whelan Trio. She has played for President Jimmy Carter and has performed for many weeks at a time over the past 5 years at Dollywood. She has studied with Irish fiddle champions Liz Carroll, Oisin Mac Diarmada, Seamus Connolly and many other well-regarded players; Grammy-nominated fiddler Liz Carroll is also a guest musician on her solo album, “The Initiation.” She is very passionate about this music and would love to pass on her love of the music to a new generation.
She primarily considers herself to be a fiddle teacher, specializing in the Irish style, but also tutors students in their orchestra music as well as prep for Solo and Ensemble. She teaches out of her apartment in Verona and is a good option for students who are looking for extra help or alternative string styles.
She is also available for fiddle workshops and has successfully done them in public school orchestra settings in Reno, NV and Columbus, OH.
